The Citizens Should Pay For Private Health Insurance

 

While there is plenty to enjoy about living in Indonesia, finding and funding adequate healthcare can be a challenge. Private hospitals are generally a better option, but although they offer an improved quality of care, this is usually reflected in their cost. I believe that comprehensive health insurance coverage is a necessity for all citizen in Indonesia.

 

In Indonesia itself there is BPJS Kesehatan, previously named Askes (Health Insurance), which is managed by PT Askes Indonesia (Persero), but according to Law No. 24 of 2011 concerning BPJS, PT. Askes Indonesia has changed to BPJS Kesehatan since January 1, 2014. Although the Indonesian government has introduced reforms to improve healthcare access, the country remains short on resources in the form of hospitals and medical professionals. Cause of that, public hospitals are often overcrowded, underfunded and understaffed which has an impact on qualities and health performace.

 

As a result of the low standards and inaccessibility of public healthcare in Indonesia, most citizens prefer to make use of private healthcare facilities. Medics at these institutions are more likely to professional and the care will generally be of a better standard. Other than that, private health insurance provides member with some benefits such as greather flexibility to choose the doctors and hospitals. You have a choice to have greather control over when and where you are treated and the private health insurance will cover all the costs.

Having private health insurance is an important and cost effective method of protecting against unexpected health issues and providing us with more control over our health care, choices of services and doctor. Even if we have no family or personal history of serious illness we can’t be certain that we can’t require certain services or specialist case in the future. People who have private health insurance have the peace of mind that comes with knowing they are covered for the best available medical treatments when and if they become necessary. 

So, I believed that private health insurance is the best choice to guarantee and support our health because its more worth it than public health insurance. I think health care also its an individuals responsibility to take care of their body, its not government or BPJS members.
